This year's lucky Ultimate Cool School Science Day assembly was held on June 4, 2010 at P.S. 201 Kissena in Flushing, New York. Students at the school discovered the fun of science when they spent the day with science guru, Steve Spangler, who makes frequent appearances on television shows like the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Spangler astonished students with his exciting, interactive science experiments, such as creating twenty-foot geysers of soda and books bursting into flames. Students walked away not only amazed, but also with their own tube of Insta-Snow powder to recreate the fun of science at home. Teachers enjoyed a professional development session where they learned how to further engage and excite students with the fun of science in their classrooms!
Prize Details
The winning teacher will win a spellbinding assembly for his/her school that is not only fun and interactive, but also underscores the importance of science literacy and the need for science resources among schools. Discovery Education will lead the assembly, which will consist of videos, mind benders and interactive demonstrations.
